Serendipity

I walk away
you stand still
I turn around
to see you turning around.
You kneel
pick mushrooms
your hands
bent and knotted.
I walk back
you stand firm
I wipe soil
from your fingers.
I take the mushrooms
from you one two ten
twelve fifteen or more
into my pockets.
We continue a path
through the forest
we cannot see
for the trees.
